Match the attributes that carry the design
A convincing tile substitute matches on the attributes the eye actually reads: color family and tone, surface texture and finish (matte, lappato, structured), format and proportion, and shade variation (the ANSI V1–V4 rating). A 24x48 warm-greige matte with V3 variation reads completely differently from the same color in glossy V1 — even at identical size. Verify the technical floor before anything else

Confirm porcelain vs ceramic where water absorption matters, and rectified edges if the design calls for tight 1/16-inch joints.
